Susan Calfunao is a Medical Technologist specializing in morphophysiopathology and cytodiagnosis, with extensive experience in pathological anatomy, molecular biology, and translational research. She holds a Master’s degree in Pharmacology from the University of Chile, serves as Lab Manager of SeqUOH, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Engineering Sciences with a specialization in Complex Systems at Universidad de O’Higgins.

Her work bridges pathology, molecular diagnostics, and sequencing-based technologies, with a strong focus on clinical implementation, quality standards, and evidence-based practice. At Universidad de O’Higgins, she leads next-generation sequencing activities at the SeqUOH Sequencing Laboratory, supporting the development of genomics capabilities for research and applied biomedical projects.
